An Unparalleled Resource in East Africa

The Wildlife Tourism College of Maasai Mara (WTC)

The Wildlife Tourism College brings together seven existing learning centers and provides critical skill gap training to 1,800 students. It is a centralized hub for tourism, vocational education, research, and community capacity building; as well, it is an educational tourism (EduTourism) camp for international students and volunteers. There is no facility of its caliber in East Africa.

The WTC builds on the legacy of the Koyaiki Guide School (KGS), which has graduated over 300 trained Maasai safari guides since it opened over 15 years ago. Key features of the expanded WTC program include:

 • The latest in high-level training needed for future employment in the Greater Mara Ecosystem and throughout the region
•  A strategic partnership with the Southern African Wildlife College and other participating universities
• The unique integration of global and local Maasai students
•  An on-site research hub, with participants from five key international universities
•  A profit-sharing model which supports local student scholarships and operating expenses, and the expansion and sustainability of Pardamat, a groundbreaking dual-use conservation area

Because of the WTC’s unique model and vast potential, $1.3 million in initial capital expenses has been secured.   An additional $725,000 in operating expenses is needed to support the project for the first three years of its development, from 2021-2023.

This will ensure the WTC is the catalyst for highly trained Maasai youth throughout Africa, a new generation of global, engaged students, and a center for comprehensive, innovative conservation efforts worldwide.
