Critical Projects

Your help is needed today for two critical issues facing Basecamp Maasai Mara during this global pandemic. Travel to the Mara has ceased, as it has in most parts of our world. We need your help to weather this crisis until visitors return to this extraordinary place.
The Wildlife Tourism College brings together seven existing learning centers and provides critical skill gap training to 1,800 students. It is a centralized hub for tourism, vocational education, research, and community capacity building; as well, it is an educational tourism (EduTourism) camp for international students and volunteers. There is no facility of its caliber in East Africa.
Talek Community Center (TCC) Enjoolata provides a community platform, showcasing best practices for preserving the Maasai Mara ecosystem and wildlife, for reviving biodiversity and for preserving Maasai culture and heritage. The multi-functional TCC also fills a critical gap in local education, job training and in raising awareness of the myriad issues facing this region.
Communities and tourism investment have joined together to restore habitat for wildlife, and improve economic opportunity for local people. Yet, access to safe water is still unavailable to almost 90 percent of Maasai families living near the Maasai Mara and the 15 conservancies surrounding it.
