Reed and his wife Jennifer, traveled to the Maasai Mara in 2017 and 2024, and like everyone else on the board, fell in love with the people, animals and landscape of the Mara. Reed joined the board of BCEF-USA as treasurer in 2024.

Born in Wendell, Idaho, Reed graduated with a B.S. degree from Lewis Clark State College, and with a MBA from the University of Arizona. He traveled and worked for Up With People from 1972 to 1996. He has been a bond broker since 1996.

They have taken their sons Andrew and William and their families to Kenya to experience the magic of the Mara.
