Francis was born and raised in Maasai Mara, where he spent his early years herding livestock amidst diverse wildlife populations. His upbringing instilled in him a deep-rooted connection to the natural world and a fervent dedication to conservation.
After completing his Master’s degree in Conservation Leadership from Colorado State University in the USA, Francis embarked on a career in Community conservation. His academic pursuits equipped him with the knowledge and skills to address the intricate challenges facing natural resources management.
Francis worked as Data Manager for the Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association, overseeing data management and analysis for twelve conservancies. His work played a vital role in informing evidence-based conservation strategies and wildlife management efforts.
Subsequently, Francis took on a pivotal position at the Basecamp Explorer Foundation in Kenya, where he led foundation programs aimed at promoting sustainable development and biodiversity conservation within the region. His leadership and strategic vision contributed significantly to the foundation’s impactful initiatives.
Currently, Francis serves as the Conservancy Manager for the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, where he channels his expertise and passion into implementing innovative conservation practices. In this role, he works closely with local communities, stakeholders, and wildlife experts to ensure the preservation of the region’s ecological integrity.
In addition to his on-the-ground conservation work, Francis extends his influence globally as a board member of both the Basecamp Foundation USA and the Hardwick Foundation USA. Through these roles, he advocates for sustainable solutions and fosters collaboration towards the shared goal of environmental stewardship and conservation excellence.
