John Sayre

Graduate of Univ. of Washington, 1958. Rowed on crew, stroked varsity to victory in Moscow in 1958 against 5 Soviet crews, first US athletes to compete in Soviet Union. Won gold medal in 60 Olympics in Rome, rowing Four without shell. Traveled several years with Up with People, worked for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Washington D. C. and Oregon. Executive Director of Long Live the Kings, salmon recovery non-profit. Started Qualco Energy, to turn cow manure into power with anaerobic digester, working with local dairy farmers. Involved in several wildlife restoration projects in Mongolia, Mexico, Canada and Kenya, as well as U.S. conservation projects.
